Doug & Jael Robitaille
Mission Agency: NTM
(New Tribes Mission)
Country: Indonesia
Focus of Ministry: Financial administration and leadership. Security and
safety. Church planning and discipleship.
Even though we've been through 4 years of training to become tribal church planters, the Lord has used our gifts in the city of Pontianak, West Kalimantan, Indonesia.
Doug graduated from SDSU with a degree in Accounting, so he is the field accountant here for all the missionaries with New Tribes Mission. He is a member of the regional leadership for West Kalimantan and also a member of the field leadership for Indonesia. After a year of being the field contingency coordinator, another man has stepped in to help relieve Doug of that responsibility, so Doug still remains on that committee - but it's not full time. We also had the responsibility of finding land for the new mission home to be built and we found a Christian Indonesian architect to draw up the plans, now to find a builder and the cash to begin. We are 'care' for one of the tribal missionary teams in the village of Parobut. We go in to visit and encourage them, they may just need to talk and bounce things off of someone else besides their team. This team consists of a German family, American family, Korean family and an Indonesian family - all working together to reach the Sekadau people group. What a blessing for us to be a part of this team!!!!
I, Jael, run the mission home for the missionaries passing through Pontianak. I
have continuous guests in this 10 guest room house. I serve a large noon meal,
not only to the guests, but to our 2 teachers and the 6 students (next door to
the mission home). The Lord uses my gift of hospitality to encourage and listen
to the missionaries coming through here and I love it! I'm also a part of the
educational committee, so it is my job in West Kalimantan to find qualified
school teachers willing to come for a year or more. That is a huge need we have-
elementary school teachers.
We have 3 daughters, Avery (9), Jensen Cait (5 - she was born in Indonesia), and
Mia (2 - also born in Indonesia). Another need, is buying all their ABeka
curriculum each year. Avery is in the 4th grade and Jensen in kindergarten this
year. We have 2 school teachers, Betsy McIntyre, who will finish her 2 year
teaching commitment here in May, and Barb Cork, who is retiring Dec. 2006.
