Bob and Carol Cruzen have been missionaries with Wycliffe Bible Translators for 18 years now. They love RCC and still consider it their “home”.
Many years ago, as married college students, Bob and Carol spent a year in Sweden at the University. Carol accepted Christ in Sweden and Bob agreed to start attending church and Bible studies. After their return to CA in 1974 they started attending our church. It was during their early years of attendance at EFCYL that Bob accepted Christ. His decision was impacted by Pastor Lindquist’s messages, Pastor Ken Thengval’s mentoring and the congregation’s expression of Christ’s love and enjoying God together. They were both baptized at our church
As the years followed God gave them three children, the entire Cruzen family grew in love and grace at EFCYL. All three of their children were dedicated at the church, and both played very active roles in church life and leadership. In 1989 God called them to join Wycliffe Bible Translators and they were the first couple commissioned from our congregation to go into full time overseas missions. Gene Ongna was the pastor at that time and his encouragement matched by the congregations support in prayer and finances gave Bob and Carol the courage to move forward in obedience to God’s call.
Bob and Carol have served with Wycliffe in France and Africa and are presently serving at the Wycliffe Headquarters in Orlando, FL. Bob is Director of Operations for Stewardship Ministries which raises resources to fund the work of Bible Translation and literacy worldwide. Carol is W.O.R.D. Director. Her job will take her to Senegal and other African countries next year.
Bob and Carol’s children are now grown adults. July 31, 2005 Kirsten married Eric Grossman and they are living in New York City. Jim is living and working in San Diego. Jonathan lives in Orlando and is presently working for Wycliffe.
